28th May - Conference - Central - Westminster - London

Travel & Accommodations

Great Place to Work® Institute is pleased to host the 2008 conference in one of London's most unique venues -- the Central Hall in Westminster. Throughout its history Methodist Central Hall has played host to events of national and international importance: The Suffragettes, campaigning for the vote for women, met here in 1914. Mahatma Gandhi addressed the Temperance movement here in 1931. But perhaps most famously, Methodist Central Hall was the chosen venue for the inaugural General Assembly of the United Nations in 1946.

Central Hall is located in the heart of London in walking distance of Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. You will be able to combine your attendance at the conference with a visit to some of London''s key attractions even though you have a tight schedule. Connections from London''s airports are easy and you will have plenty of train, underground and bus connections at your disposal. Please see Central Hall''s website for more detailed travel information.

London has it all and close to the conference venue you can choose between a variety of key London attractions. See our suggestions below or visit the official London Tourist website.

Here are some suggestions of nearby attractions:

Westminster has the largest concentration of visitor attractions in London - including prestigious landmarks such as Buckingham Palace , Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the Queen. The Queen's Gallery is open all year round, and The Royal Mews are open from late March until the end of October.

Tate Britain, on the bank of the Thames, is home to the national gallery of British art from 1500 to the present day.

The National Gallery is home to one of the greatest collections of European paintings in the world. Designed to be socially inclusive, the gallery still offers free entrance and extended opening hours.

The location for every Coronation since 1066, Westminster Abbey is a 3000 square metre architectural masterpiece built during the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries. The Abbey is an Anglican Church that is still in used by worshippers today.

Flowing through central London, the River Thames is an artery of visitor attractions. The sweeping stretch of the river as it flows past the Palace of Westminster has the imposing 19th century column of Big Ben on the north bank facing the British Airways London Eye, an icon of 21st century design on the south bank.

Westminster includes also the world famous shopping areas Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street.
